I first came across Blue Hill Garden in Monroe, NC on their instagram–their beautiful wildflower field caught my attention–and I immediately had a vision of a motherhood session in the wildflowers! I wanted to plan a session with a natural, earthy vibe, and I wanted to shoot with an editorial flair. When brainstorming ideas for what the models would wear, I kept envisioning a mom who lives on a farm; she just rolled out of bed and went outside to pick flowers for her breakfast table. I wanted her in a flowy nightgown and tall rain boots–and that’s exactly what I got! 😆

We shot this session mid-morning and I had so much fun playing around with the full, direct sunlight. Clients often want a golden hour, sunset session, but there’s really something to be said for a morning session with all the light you could ever want. Who doesn’t want blue skies and dramatic lighting??

Diamelen and her girls were the perfect models for motherhood in the wildflowers session; they’re naturally playful and used to exploring outdoors.
